Federal funds pay for energy program
Julia Hickey
Money from the federal stimulus bill is being used to create an Energy Auditing Tool
Lending Library and Home Performance Training Program, designed to help local
contractors and homeowners make changes that would use less energy.
Those changes could help homeowners take advantage of rebates up to $4,000
through the Energy Upgrade California program.
The energy tool library at Cuesta College is designed to provide affordable, quality
energy tools to contractors and energy professionals. The tools can be rented for free
until Aug. 31, after which a nominal fee will be charged, according to a recent news
release.
For details, contact Chad Worth at cuestagreentech@gmail.com or 546-3180.
Cuesta College, in partnership with SLO Green Build, is also offering a seven-week
Home Performance Training Program from Sept. 12 through Oct. 26. The course will
prepare students to take a field and written examination offered at the end of the class
to earn a Building Performance Institute Building Analyst certification.
